Permit Types

Permit Validity

Single Trip Trucking Permits are valid for 5 regular travel days.

Transportation Restrictions

 

Travel prohibited in foggy weather, in the snow, on icy roads, or at any other time when there is not sufficient light to render clearly discernible persons and vehicles on the highway at a distance of 500’.

The following holidays are restricted: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Operating Time

30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset.

Weekend Travel

Travel permitted is all day on Saturday; no Sunday travel.  Mobile homes less than 12’ in width may travel until half an hour after sunset on Saturday and Sunday.

Superloads

Anything over Routine Issue dimensions requires special approval by the DOT.

Oversize Load Signs

All oversize transports require Oversize Load signs.

Flags/Lights

18” red flag required at the four corners and widest point of any oversize transport.

Blades

Bulldozers, front end loaders and similar equipment shall be loaded with the blade to the rear
any time the blade protrudes beyond the transporting vehicle. Overweight dozer and blade must
be attached, or else hauled on separate loads if blade is detached

Divisible Load Exceptions

Bulldozers and similar construction equipment can be considered non-divisible.

For bulldozers and other construction equipment being transported with blade intact: Anytime that the blade protrudes beyond the transporting vehicle a minimum of one escort is required. The escort shall be a front escort for highways with only one lane in each direction and a rear escort for highways with two or more lanes in each direction. This requirement is in addition to, and not in place of all other escort requirements.

If a dozer or loader blade protrudes and the load is 12’ wide or less, no escorts will be required.
