Transportation Restrictions

 

Movement will be restricted during unfavorable weather or road conditions (snow, ice, driving rain, fog) or other atmospheric conditions which restrict visibility to less than 1,000′ or winds sufficient to cause the wheels of the semi to deflect more than 6″.

Trucking Permits Goal - Coast 2 Coast Trucking Permits

The following holidays are restricted: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Except during holidays, permitted loads are allowed in urbanized areas only during:

  • The hours of 3:00 AM and 7:30 AM
  • The hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM
  • The hours of 7:00 PM and sunset

In the areas through Fort Pitt, Squirrel Hill, or Liberty Tunnels in Allegheny County travel on permitted during the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Travel is permitted from sunrise to sunset on the weekends.

“Oversize Load” signs are required for any oversize load.

Blades

Dozers with blades that exceed 12′ in width, but no wider than 15′, may be hauled if a traffic
protector guide rail device is securely fastened to the dozer. A detached bucket or blade cannot
be hauled on an overweight load.
