Travel for loads 12’-15’ wide (12’-14’ wide for mobile homes) is restricted in close proximity to urban areas from 7:00 am – 9:00 am all days and from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm on school days and 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm on non-school days.

Trucking Permits Goal - Coast 2 Coast Trucking Permits

No movement shall be allowed during inclement weather such as heavy rain or fog when visibility is restricted to less than 1,000′. Movement shall be prohibited during periods of high winds or when highways are slippery or hazardous.

No travel allowed on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas or from 12:00 noon the day before a holiday until 12:00 noon the day after each holiday (not including Sunday).

Movement is prohibited on Friday and Saturday from Memorial Day through Labor Day over routes US-378, SC-327, US-76, SC-576, US-501, SC-22, SC-31 and SC-9 East of I-95 to and from the Myrtle Beach area and on US-17 from the North Carolina line to points South of Myrtle Beach (Georgetown) and on any other routes in the Myrtle Beach vicinity.

Operating Time

Half an hour after sunrise to half an hour before sunset. Upon request, only loads grossing up to 130,000 lbs. can have continuous travel if all other dimensions are legal.

Superloads

Anything above routine issue dimensions require special permission from the DOT.

Oversize Load Signs

“Oversize Load” signs required for any load over 12’ wide.

Flags/Lights

12” red flags and rotating amber lights required at the four corners and widest point of any load over 12’ wide and if the load or component which extends beyond the sides more than 4” or 4’ beyond the rear of the vehicle.

Additional Information

Road equipment, with dimensions not exceeding 75’L x 12’W x 13’6″H and up to 90,000 lbs do not require a permit.
